About Joe Buccino

Communications Director

Having offered advice to civilian and military senior leaders within the US Department of Defense, Joe Buccino recently served as communications director with the US Central Command (CENTCOM). Responsible for a team of more than 50 military and civilian personnel, Joe Buccino oversaw external and internal communications across 17 media markets and regions such as Central Asia, the Middle East, and the Levant.

Mr. Buccino’s responsibilities included strategizing and implementing campaigns that covered emerging crises and ongoing operations and initiatives. He managed various relationships spanning military leadership and major media stakeholders and provided mentorship that emphasized best PR and communications practices. One successful strategic approach he pioneered was “People, Partners, and Innovation,” and he authored the congressional posture statement used by the CENTCOM commander.

A graduate of the State University of New York, Albany, Mr. Buccino earned his BA in US history and a master’s degree in PR and corporate communications at Georgetown University. Joe Buccino’s background includes a position as a media relations officer with the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs, handling the complex messaging involved in coordinating a military drawdown during the Obama administration.
